Salary range: $123,006 to $146,579 per annum + 13.5% superannuation
About the role
This role contributes to the success of the City by providing senior project management expertise to support the seamless and agile delivery of the City of Hobart’s capital works program.
Working within the City Projects Group, you will apply established project management methodologies and disciplines to deliver complex infrastructure and construction projects that provide high-quality outcomes for the Hobart community.
Role accountabilities include:
- Leading the design and delivery of mid to large-scale infrastructure and capital works projects, including projects in complex brownfield environments.
- Managing projects to achieve agreed time, budget, scope, quality, safety and compliance requirements.
- Providing strategic and technical advice to internal and external stakeholders, supported by sound research and analysis.
- Preparing complex reports, project documentation, technical papers and communications for a range of audiences.
- Building productive relationships with government agencies, industry bodies, professional associations, business groups and the wider community.
- Interpreting contracts, technical drawings, building standards, and relevant safety and environmental legislation.
- Identifying project risks, challenges and opportunities, and leading effective responses.
- Supporting, mentoring and empowering employees while fostering collaboration, continuous improvement and service excellence.

About you
You are an accomplished senior project manager with significant experience delivering complex infrastructure or construction projects. You can work autonomously, navigate challenging issues and maintain a clear focus on achieving project outcomes.
You have a strong record of delivering projects on time, within budget and scope, while ensuring that works meet the required quality, technical, safety and regulatory standards. You combine technical knowledge with sound judgement, strategic thinking and the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
You are also an inclusive and collaborative leader who can build effective relationships across an organisation and with external stakeholders. Your community-focused approach, commitment to continuous improvement and ability to mentor and engage others will help you contribute to high-quality outcomes for the City and the Hobart community.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A qualification in Project Management, Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- A current driver’s licence.
- Significant senior-level experience applying project management methodologies to infrastructure projects.
- Experience in civil construction and the design and delivery of mid to large-scale construction or building projects.
- Strong knowledge of contracts, building standards, technical requirements, and safety and environmental compliance.
- Demonstrated stakeholder engagement, leadership, advocacy and written communication capabilities.
Qualifications in business, urban planning or management, and experience in a similar local government role, would be advantageous.
