About the role

This role contributes to the success of the City by delivering high-quality engineering design solutions that support Hobart's infrastructure, public spaces and community assets. Working within the Design Team, you will develop and manage engineering designs across a diverse portfolio of civil, landscape and architectural projects, ensuring outcomes meet legislative, regulatory and compliance requirements while achieving project objectives.

Role accountabilities include:

  • Preparing and reviewing detailed engineering designs for civil, landscape and architectural projects.
  • Developing feasibility assessments, technical reports and detailed design documentation.
  • Utilising industry-leading software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Civil Site Design and 12D.
  • Managing design projects to achieve agreed timeframes and budgets.
  • Interpreting engineering specifications, standards and technical documentation.
  • Applying Safety in Design principles and ensuring compliance with relevant policies, standards and procedures.

You will join the Infrastructure and Assets Network within the City Projects Group, working on projects that make a visible and lasting contribution to Hobart's public infrastructure and community spaces.

About you

You are a qualified Civil Engineer with strong technical design capability and a passion for delivering practical, innovative and sustainable engineering solutions. You combine sound engineering judgement with a commitment to best-practice design principles and enjoy working on a diverse range of projects.

You will bring:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • Experience in municipal, civil or structural design projects and construction practices.
  • Advanced capability in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Civil Site Design, 12D or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering standards, specifications and relevant Australian legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build productive relationships across a broad range of stakeholders.
  • A collaborative approach aligned with the City of Hobart's values and behavioural standards.
