About the role
The Capital Program Coordinator plays a central role in planning and managing Council’s Capital Works Program. In this position, you will coordinate projects from initial scoping through to delivery, ensuring budgets are well-developed, timelines are achievable, and processes are efficiently managed through strong planning and collaboration with stakeholders. You will also contribute to ensuring capital projects support Council’s strategic objectives and respond to community priorities.
Role accountabilities include:

Coordinate the planning and delivery of the Capital Works Program, ensuring alignment with Council’s strategic priorities and community outcomes.

Lead the annual review of capital projects, ensuring initiatives are well-scoped, appropriately budgeted, and effectively prioritised.

Assess project readiness by developing accurate cost estimates and realistic timelines to support efficient program delivery.

Work collaboratively with project managers, asset owners, and finance teams to ensure strong alignment between planning and execution.

Provide evidence-based advice and insights to support informed decision-making and organisational objectives.

Monitor and report on program performance, including risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.

Build strong stakeholder relationships to support delivery, advocate for community outcomes, and identify emerging issues and opportunities.

About you
A Degree in Project Management or Civil Engineering (or an equivalent qualification), or substantial relevant experience, underpins your strong capability in this field, along with a current driver licence.
Proven experience in capital works planning, project coordination, construction management, or infrastructure delivery, ideally within a local government or similar environment, enables confident management of multiple projects at once, balancing competing priorities while delivering on time and within budget.
With a strong understanding of the full project lifecycle, including budgeting and risk management, you are able to identify challenges early and support effective, informed decision-making.
You are a skilled communicator with excellent interpersonal abilities, enabling you to build strong relationships, collaborate effectively, and influence a diverse range of stakeholders. Highly organised and proactive, you bring a solutions-focused approach and a commitment to delivering outcomes that align with organisational priorities and community needs.
