About the role

This role contributes to success by driving organisational initiatives for the City of Hobart, and leading cross-functional projects that improve how we operate and drive value for our community.
 
You will lead and coordinate strategic projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and the budget. You will translate high-level goals into practical plans, track progress, and keep stakeholders informed through clear reporting. You will also facilitate collaboration across teams, champion change initiatives, and maintain visibility of all strategic work.

Role accountabilities include:

  • Lead strategic projects from planning to delivery, ensuring scope, time, and budget are met.
  • Monitor and report on initiatives, manage risks, and keep stakeholders informed through CAMMS (reporting platform) and quarterly updates.
  • Review completed projects, capture lessons learned, and apply improvements for future initiatives.

About you

You are a seasoned project leader or strategic planning professional who makes strategy tangible, turning big-picture goals into clear, actionable plans that deliver results. 
You know your way around project management methodologies, and you have proven you can steer complex, cross-functional initiatives to a successful finish.
 
Your superpower is people: you engage stakeholders, communicate with clarity, and build trust across teams. You are comfortable juggling competing priorities and navigating ambiguity, and you use data, dashboards, and reporting to surface insights that keep decisions smart and delivery on track.

The below are the essentials for the role: 

  • Bachelor degree or higher in Business, Public Administration, Strategic Management, or a related field with relevant experience.
  • Expertise in leading strategic projects that improve how an organisation operates and delivers value.
  • Strong project management knowledge and disciplined delivery.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Confidence in reporting and data analysis, using tools to provide meaningful insights.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with CAMMs or similar reporting platforms
  • Experience in local government or public sector environments provides valuable insights and understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in these sectors.
