About the role
This role contributes to the success of the City by ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of road maintenance activities in accordance with the Road Services Management Plan. The Maintenance Team Leader (Civil / Asphalt) supports the Road Maintenance Coordinator in planning and delivering a program of maintenance that includes concrete and asphalt repairs, line marking, signage, and street furniture, while ensuring compliance with relevant standards and safety procedures.
Role accountabilities include:
- Leading, motivating, and participating in a productive work team to maintain roads, footpaths, signage, and street furniture.
- Backfilling the Coordinator Road Maintenance role when required.
- Ensuring services are delivered efficiently and in compliance with relevant standards and WHS policies.
- Coaching and mentoring team members to develop technical skills and professional behaviours.
- Participating in daily toolbox meetings and liaising with the Coordinator on resource needs.
- Coordinating external resources and operating plant and machinery safely.
- Collecting and recording asset management data.
- Participating in after-hours emergency service rosters and being available for overtime.
- Promoting and ensuring a safe work environment for all.

About you
You are a proactive and experienced team leader with a strong background in civil maintenance, particularly in concreting and asphalting. You bring a collaborative and safety-first mindset, with the ability to lead a small team, solve operational challenges, and maintain high standards of service delivery. Your communication skills enable you to work effectively with colleagues, contractors, and the community.
You will also have:
- Completion of Year 12, a Certificate IV qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.
- A current Driver Licence and Medium Rigid Licence.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Sound knowledge of WHS principles and the ability to apply them in daily operations.
- Basic computer skills for completing asset and safety documentation.
