Salary range: $119,423 to $129,372 per annum + 13.5% superannuation.
About the role
Join the City of Hobart as a Project Manager Waste Services and lead the strategic transition of our Waste Management Centre as we work towards closing the McRobies landfill by 2030. This role plays a key part in shaping Hobart's circular economy future through innovative project delivery, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable outcomes.
Role accountabilities include:
- Lead major waste transition projects, including site rehabilitation and contract management.
- Drive strategic planning and community consultation to support inclusive waste solutions.
- Oversee procurement and financial management aligned with landfill closure goals.
- Collaborate across teams and with external stakeholders to deliver circular economy initiatives.

About you
You're a strategic thinker with a passion for sustainability and proven experience in delivering complex infrastructure or operational projects. You thrive in collaborative environments and bring a strong understanding of waste management, project delivery, and stakeholder engagement.
You'll bring:
- A degree in project management, economics, or a related field, or equivalent operational experience.
- Extensive experience in project or construction management, ideally within local government.
- Strong skills in contract development, procurement and budget oversight.
- A proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement across waste and circular economy initiatives.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities, with a focus on inclusive outcomes.
