About the role
As the Program Officer Waste Services, you'll play a key role in supporting the delivery of waste management and circular economy initiatives across the City of Hobart. Working closely with the Program Manager Waste and Circular Economy, you'll help drive strategic goals and contribute to the City's transition toward more sustainable waste practices.
In this dynamic role, you will:
- Support compliance, auditing and reporting activities for waste services and operations
- Coordinate policies, procedures, and performance measures aligned with the City's Waste Strategy.
- Manage consultants, contractors, and stakeholders across a range of waste-related projects.
- Assist in delivering capital and maintenance programs, and contribute to circular economy initiatives
- Help ensure safe, efficient, and customer-focused waste and resource recovery services.

About you
We are looking for a motivated and experiences professional with a strong background in operational service delivery and environmental management. You bring a collaborative mindset, practical leadership skills, and a commitment to safety and sustainability.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent practical experience in waste of environmental services
- Experience coordinating environmental management systems and supervising teams or contractors.
- Strong understanding of WHS principles, quality assurance, and contract administration
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills, with a calm and professional approach.
The following qualifications and experience are also desirable:
- Waste management experience or plant operation skills.
- Heavy Rigid Licence and familiarity with operating heavy vehicles or machinery.
- Project and change management capabilities to support evolving service needs.
