Salary range: $69,156 to $70,667 per annum + 13% superannuation.
About the role
This hands-on role plays a vital part in maintaining and enhancing Hobart’s public spaces. As an Asset Maintenance Assistant, help ensure the City’s built assets like park infrastructure, playgrounds, and public amenities, are safe, functional, and meet community expectations. Work across a variety of sites, contributing to both planned and reactive maintenance programs that support the City’s high standards of service delivery.
Role accountabilities include:
- Carry out maintenance and repairs on built assets and infrastructure.
- Support the delivery of capital works and playground inspection programs.
- Conduct inspections and report on asset conditions.
- Collaborate with contractors and internal teams to deliver timely services.
- Promote a safe and inclusive work environment.

About you
Are you a practical, solutions-focused professional with a trade background and a passion for maintaining public spaces?
We’re seeking an Asset Maintenance Assistant who loves working outdoors, takes pride in their craftsmanship, and thrives in a team environment. You’re adaptable, safety-conscious, and ready to take initiative when challenges arise.
The following are the essentials for the role:
- A Certificate III or above in a relevant trade.
- A current White Card and Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.
- A current Drivers Licence.
- Experience delivering maintenance or construction services to a high standard.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Desirable extras include a Medium Rigid licence, First Aid certification, and experience with playground audits or traffic control.
