$141,230 to $147,478 per annum + 13% loading + $12,000 vehicle allowance +13% superannuation.

About the role

As the Manager of Economic Development, you will be at the forefront of driving strategic initiatives to foster Hobart’s economic growth. You will lead a team responsible for investment attraction, business support programs, smart city technologies, and community safety measures, ensuring Hobart’s economy continues to flourish.

Role accountabilities include:

  • Lead the implementation of the City’s Economy Strategy, driving economic growth and business development.
  • Design and evaluate economic research projects to stay informed of local, national, and international trends.
  • Collaborate with state and federal governments to attract investment and promote Hobart’s knowledge economy.
  • Provide expert strategic advice on business initiatives, smart city technology, parking and kerbside management, and community safety.
  • Represent Hobart’s interests with business, industry, and academia at strategic and policy levels.
  • Promote the City’s economic development efforts to the wider community and stakeholders.
  • Inspire a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and service excellence within your team.

About you

You’re a highly experienced leader in economic development with a background in business support and investment attraction. Holding a relevant degree, you excel at delivering innovative projects and building strategic relationships. With strong communication skills and a focus on continuous improvement, you motivate teams to achieve results. A driver’s licence is required, and postgraduate qualifications are a plus.
