About the role

This role contributes to the success of the City by managing and optimising spatial data systems and integrating various technologies to support data-driven decision-making at the City of Hobart.

Role accountabilities include:

  • Provide specialist advice and guidance on GIS matters across the organisation.
  • Develop and provide GIS as-a-service within Council including the monitoring of security.
  • Supervise and lead junior staff in the development of maps and data outputs from GIS and related data sources using a range of spatial and non-spatial system integration techniques.

Essential:

  • Degree in Spatial Sciences or similar and several years of satisfactory relevant experience with the acquisition of appropriate skills through approved training.
  • Several years’ experience in working in a similar environment.

Desirable:

  • Programming skills particularly with respect to Python and SQL.
  • Strong understanding of Asset Management systems and processes.
