Salary range:
$95,251 to $109,117 per annum + 12.5% superannuation. Commuter rights of vehicle with onsite car parking. Relocation assistance may be available for this role.

About the role

This role contributes to the success of the City by coordinating and assisting with the implementation of the Work Health and Safety strategy and various Work Health and Safety activities to reduce the risk of injury or illness to employees, contractors and visitors in Council workplaces. 

The position involves assisting the Principal Work Health & Safety (WHS) in implementing the Corporate WHS Strategy. Responsibilities include managing the day-to-day tasks of the WHS Advisers, developing safety management systems, reviewing and developing new approaches as directed, maintaining accident registers, supporting investigations, overseeing WHS committees, coordinating inspections and audits, identifying training needs, managing fire and emergency plans, promoting a positive safety culture, maintaining records, ensuring confidentiality, updating WHS documents, attending meetings, influencing leaders on safety culture, and providing general WHS advice and support.

About you

The desired applicant will have a Diploma or higher in WHS or a related field coupled with previous practical experience in work health and safety role.

The ideal candidate should have:

  1. Current knowledge of WHS issues and the ability to contribute to WHS policies and plans.
  2. Experience in maintaining WHS records and using Microsoft Office and WHS databases.
  3. Understanding of WHS legislation and standards.
  4. Ability to prepare and investigate WHS incident reports.
  5. Clear communication skills for effective information sharing.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships and providing expert advice.
  7. Proficiency in various software applications.
