About the role

This new role will lead the new Land Use and Development Planning Unit. The successful candidate will manage a team that contributes to the City of Hobart’s growth, vibrancy and enhanced liveability through effective city planning strategies, policy and projects that have a positive impact on ‘City shaping for both growth and renewal’.

About you

The ideal candidate for the position should possess a degree or higher qualification in City/Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, or a closely related discipline. They must demonstrate significant expertise in strategic and urban planning, including policy development, structure planning, and the establishment of urban design/built form controls. Additionally, the candidate should have substantial relevant experience in urban design with a strong grasp of contemporary place-making practices, as well as a proven track record in community engagement. They should exhibit high-level project management skills, including budget control, and have the ability to lead and manage teams effectively while fostering positive relationships within the organisation. Excellent written communication skills are essential, particularly in presenting complex technical information to a broad audience, and the candidate should also possess strong negotiation abilities to achieve optimal outcomes.
