Salary range:
$112,568 to $121,946 per annum + 12.5% superannuation. 
You will also receive commuter rights of a motor vehicle, plus car park, laptop, and mobile phone. 

About the role

This role ensures the City's success by overseeing waste services operations, managing internal and external reporting, and addressing strategic and legislative requirements. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, and delivering outcomes for the City's Waste Management Strategy, City Resilience Unit Plan, and Capital City Strategic Plan. 

Role accountabilities include:

  • Manage the City’s participation in a range of waste management initiatives/programs and long-term strategic planning.
  • Manage the Capital Works and operational budgets for the Waste and Circular Economy Program.
  • Review and submit admissions on strategic waste and resource recovery policy and programs on behalf of the City.
  • Prepare high level detailed and specialised technical information and advice.
  • Prepare and manage contract specifications and tender processes.
  • Research, investigate, and implement policies and programs to reduce waste to landfill and increase resource recovery and drive circular economy.

About you

You will have completed a tertiary degree qualification in a relevant field, and a high level of relevant experience as well as extensive knowledge of the waste and circular economy field. In addition, you will have significant contract management, budgeting, and business management skills, with a strong understanding of regional and state activities and policy frameworks as they relate to waste and circular economy.
