$112,568 to $115,265 per annum + 12.5% superannuation. 

About the role

This role involves managing legal affairs and property matters for a council or local government. Responsibilities include routine legal work, providing specialised advice to support council functions, supervising a legal and property team, and effectively managing the council's property portfolio. Key skills include legal expertise, leadership, and property management capabilities.

Responsibilities include managing legal and property matters, overseeing Right to Information Requests, preparing detailed reports for Council, identifying emerging legal issues, meeting deadlines, managing relationships with stakeholders, backfilling for the Manager of Legal & Corporate Governance when necessary, managing commercial tenancy contracts, overseeing the Legal & Property Team and property portfolio administration, supervising the Property Officer, conducting performance reviews, drafting legal documents, responding to stakeholders, conducting legal research and projects, and implementing continuous improvement processes.

About you

The desired applicant will have:

  • Bachelor of Laws Degree or higher.
  • Extensive experience in statutory interpretation and providing accurate legal advice.
  • Proficiency in local government, property, and commercial law.
  • Strong written communication skills, adept at preparing detailed reports.
  • Strategic thinker with solid analytical abilities and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to plan, execute, and assess projects within deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, fostering teamwork and engaging stakeholders.
