About the role

This position plays a vital role in the City’s success by overseeing the assessment of statutory permit applications and handling customer inquiries related to the Urban Drainage Act 2013. The successful candidate will lead a cohesive team of engineers and technical officers, ensuring timely reviews and responses to applications. Close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders ensures a comprehensive and efficient assessment process. Additionally, the role involves managing stormwater and waterways enquiries, balancing legal obligations with exceptional customer service. 

Role accountabilities include:

  • Waterways Services Program and Stormwater customer service. 
  • Managing the assessment of statutory permit applications
  • Managing responses to customer enquiries regarding stormwater
  • Managing the financial allocation associated with the Waterways Services Program
  • Providing professional advice and guidance regarding planning and development of stormwater assets

About you

The desired applicant will have:

  • Holds a degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related field).
  • Experienced in the assessing planning, building and plumbing applications.
  • Familiar with catchment management plans.
  • Able to interpret hydraulic, hydrological and water quality assessments.
  • Knowledgeable about statutory permit applications, particularly in planning, building and plumbing.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret hydraulic modelling and mapping. 
  • Capable of leading, mentoring and supporting team members.
